Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We all enjoyed our end of term celebrations, including our teddy bears picnic, end of term assembly and Leavers assembly.
Have a lovely summer holiday and I look forward to welcoming you back to school on Wednesday 4th September.
Today in our Friday Reward Assembly, we had the opportunity to say a massive 'Well done' to Riley. Last week Riley was invited to the Barnsley Young Champions Awards Ceremony, along with Max in Year 4. We are immensely proud of both Max and Riley as both Parkside pupils were nominated for a 'Special Achievement Award'. They have done fantastically well to beat hundreds of other children who were nominated, across Barnsley, and make it into the final.
Congratulations to Riley who was the overall winner of this 'Special Achievement Award' and he proudly brought his trophy and framed certificate into school today so we could celebrate his achievement in Reward Assembly. Well done, Riley - we are proud of your perseverance, fighting spirit and your self belief!
Today was a fantastic end to a very busy First Summer Term which has seen both Year 6 and Year 2 work so hard preparing for and undertaking their SATs. We are proud of how hard you have all worked and how mature your attitude has been.
A special congratulations to Alys, Noah, Charlie and Skye who are the first children EVER in Year 2 to receive their Pen Licence. They received their award in Rewards Assembly this afternoon and it was very well deserved!
Year 5 and F2 also had a lovely afternoon reading to each other. Year 5 read the story they had just written to F2 and F2 children read their phonics books to Year 5. Take a look at some of the photos below of our Year 5 story writers and F2 readers.
Finally I wish you all a lovely Spring Bank Holiday and look forward to seeing you safely back at school on Monday 10th June.
Ms Ward
Well done to all the children who participated in our Easter bonnet competition. It was lovely to see all the hats that had been made and we enjoyed showing them off in our Easter Celebration Assembly. Well done to all our winners - your creations were fantastic! I wish you all a Happy Easter and a very good holiday and look forward to seeing you all back at school on the 29th April.
Ms Ward
On Tuesday evening, I had the pleasure of joining some of our children and parents at the Town Hall for the Royston Ward Alliance Achievement Awards. Children from Parkside were nominated to receive awards in the categories of Academic Achievement, Citizenship, Sporting Achievement, Courage and Resilience and Attendance.
From Year 6, Oscar, Skyler, Kayleigh, Jack, Aiden and Ellie received awards; whilst in Year 5, Oriana, Jack and Amy also received awards.
We are very proud of you all, you represented our school brilliantly! Check out our award winning pupils....
We have had a great time during World Book Day at Parkside. Lots of children dressed up and brought their favourite books into school to share. A big well done to Annabelle Y3 and Lucy Y1 who were Miss Drake's winners in each Key Stage for the best costume. Almost everyone guessed who Ms Ward had dressed up as.....she gave lots of clues out in assembly on Monday and Tuesday!
Here are some photos from our day...can you guess who we are?
Today we have been raising money for Children in Need by wearing our slippers in school. We have seen some fabulous slippers, lots of flashing unicorns and our feet have been warm and fluffy all day!
We have raised a fantastic £165 for Children in Need.
Ellie and Cody, along with their Mum's took on the Barnsley Bubble Rush in July to raise money for the Barnsley Hospice! We are so proud of them in raising over £1000 for Barnsley Hospice and would like to share their achievement with you.
Well done to you all!
