    Parkside Remembers Them'

Since September we have been creating our very own Remembrance Memorial to display at Parkside.  Children who go to after school Art and Design club have been collecting, recycling and reusing plastic bottles to make their own 'Waterfall of Poppies' as a tribute to those who have lost their lives in, or have been affected by war.

On Thursday 24th October, The Barnsley Chronicle and Councillor Makinson came to school to photograph our memorial and speak to all the children involved - look out for our pictures in the Chronicle and on their website.

We are so proud of how hard our children, Miss Roberts, Mrs Lukasik and Mrs Greenhoff have worked to create this fantastic design.  'Parkside Remembers Them' is a lasting reminder and tribute from our children and staff of how grateful we are to those who sacrificed their today for our tomorrow.

Working with the police to keep our roads safe

Last week, some of our Y6 children worked with police officers from Cudworth to keep our roads safe.  Our community is concerned about the amount of traffic and speeding cars near to our school so Jack, Emma, Ava, Ollie, Mckenzie and Ella all worked with the officers.  They took turns using the speed gun to capture the speed that cars were travelling at; if any cars were over the speed limit, the officers stopped them and spoke to them.  Our children were really mature and also spoke to the drivers who were speeding, explaining how dangerous this was, particularly near to schools.

  • Y6 - Fundraising Citizenship

Fri 18 Oct 2019 Ms Ward

Over the past couple of weeks, Emma, Miley, Charlie, Abi and Molly from Y6 have been running a stall to raise money for charity.

Emma and her friends came to see me in September and said they would like to raise some money for St Luke's Hospice in Sheffield because they had looked after Emma's Nan when she was ill.

The girls worked together, making posters and persuading people to donate unwanted toys, gifts, books, DVDs and sweets for them to sell.  They raised a fantastic total of £36.50!!

Parkside have agreed to round this up to £50 which will be sent to St Luke's Hospice along with a letter from the girls and some pictures showing off the girls' stall.

Well done Emma, Miley, Charlie, Abi and Molly for being such brilliant citizens and fundraising for such a worthy cause!
